Boulder Aeromodeling Society
The club flying field is located just NW of Boulder Reservoir. The dirt road turning West is N. 55th Street. You can get there either from the North by turning to 55th St from Niwot Road, or from the South, by driving North on N 51st St past the East entrance to Boulder Reservoir.
AMA membership is required by the City of Boulder in order to fly at this field. Welcome to the Boulder Aeromodeling Society, chartered by the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) as club number 906. To become a member of the club you must first become an AMA member. Currently, the club has about 100 members who are active in various aspects of R/C aero modeling: glow/gas and electric powered models, sailplanes, helicopters, sport flying, aerobatics and pylon racing. While some of the Club members compete in a variety of events from local to international contests, most of us are just sport flyers enjoying building and flying our planes. Many of the Club members donate their time, efforts, and money to improve the field and to provide instruction and help to beginning flyers. The club operates an RC flying field on City of Boulder property at the Boulder Reservoir, and is authorized by the city to maintain and improve the field. The field consists of two paved runways, an area for flying sailplanes, a pit area, a shelter, and a porta-potti. The field gates are locked at all times when club members are not present. As a member, you will receive a key and will be responsible for locking the gate when you leave, if no other members are present. Our activities include a monthly meeting held at 7pm on the second Wednesday of the month: from October to May at the HobbyTown USA store in Longmont (1935 Main St., Longmont, CO 80501, on the West side of the street next to Wendy's), and from June to September at the flying field. You are encouraged to visit us at the field or at our meetings. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to send an e-mail to Ken Jochim (Club Treasurer), to any of the other Club Officers, or to Mike Gulizia, the club webmaster .
